This is one of three brand new replicas built to exacting standards to look just like the Stanley Steamers campaigned in the east coast’s great Vanderbilt Cup race. It’s authentic, right down to the mile-long strand of 80,000-psi tensile strength piano wire that is wound around the boiler to contain the steam pressure. The car was “running” silently, as this photo was shot.
