This car had the largest engine of any on the show field. Its Daimler-Benz 18-liter straight-six, fed by two large Zenith updraft carburetors, was built to power a German fighter plane. It was recovered in England from a plane wreck, and installed in this Mercedes race car. Its 230 horsepower (and untold hundreds of pound-feet of torque) were said to be capable of hurtling this elemental vehicle to 120-plus mph.
